Construction Begins on the ÚNICAS SJD Building at Porta Diagonal with the Groundbreaking Ceremony
The Porta Diagonal project continues to advance with the start of construction on the Únicas building for Sant Joan de Déu, a center dedicated to the care and research of rare diseases. This significant milestone was marked by the groundbreaking ceremony, a symbolic event that took place on February 29, coinciding with Rare Disease Day.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by local authorities, representatives from Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, and other project collaborators.
During the event, the importance of this new center was emphasized, both for patients and for scientific advancement in the field of rare diseases.
The Únicas SJD building will be distinguished by its monographic focus on rare diseases, being a pioneer in integrating research and medical care within the same space.
It will be a 13,877-square-meter complex with six floors housing consultations in the areas of neurosciences and genetics; various facilities for the diagnosis and research of these diseases (neuromodulation, genomics, metabolomics, and radiomics platforms) and for their treatment (neurostimulation and advanced therapies).
Únicas SJD will also feature a Clinical Command Center offering the ability to monitor patients remotely, geolocate them, and exchange knowledge among the professionals treating them.
Porta Diagonal thus establishes itself as an innovative and reference complex, with facilities that promote social well-being and aim to improve the quality of life for individuals and advance medical knowledge.
The Únicas SJD building is another step in this direction, offering hope and new opportunities for those facing rare diseases.
